The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria ( NAHCON), has approved Hajj fare for all the 36 states pilgrims board, FCT and Armed Forces for Hajj 2018,
In view of the above, the total hajj fare package for each state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Agencies may be announces later today.
Hajj Reporters also gathered that all the state Muslim Pilgrim Welfares Boards and Agencies had defended their proposed fares and are awaiting final approval from NAHCON.
An inside source confide on that because of controversy that trails the announcement of the fare last year “ the commission has consulted widely and inputs from all stakeholders were being considered”.
The source, who declined to be named because he has no permission to speak to the press on the fare issue also said 2018 Hajj fare “ may hover around the same rate as that of last year despite increment in some service charges in Saudi Arabia”.
He said NAHCON was able to get some concessions for Nigerian Pilgrims. He also said while many nations including our immediate neighbours are having a little bit of increase in their fares for 2018 Nigeria has done everything possible to not only maintain the fare, but also get a downward review for some states.
He said NAHCON has eliminated some local “ administrative charges” which has reflected in the fare to be announced.
“ Also, contrary to the usual practice whereby the total fare is announced by the commission, the 2018 fare will announced individually by the states,” he said.
