JAKARTA – Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) of Indonesia, is preparing ten breakthroughs in the Hajj service this year.
The Innovations includes catering, lodging and more.
The Minister for Religious Affairs Lukmak Hakim Saifudin held an evaluation meeting at Makkah Regional Office (Daker) on Tuesday (12/06). The youngest son of KH Saifudin Zuhri said that preparation for Hajj is almost final.
Lukman noted that there were a number of new innovations during the 2018 hajj season, as described below:
- Notes on Pilgrimage Biometry can be performed on all hajj boardings in Indonesia
Since 2016, the Department of Religious Affairs has continued to search for biometric records containing 10 fingerprint data and pilgrimage images can be made in Indonesia. These efforts can only be realized this year. “This innovation will cut the queue and a very long waiting period during immigration control, both at Madinah Airport and Jeddah,” explains Menag.
From the previous 4-5 hours, this year’s expected queue of pilgrims at both Saudi airports is only about an hour. “Then to the airport in Madinah or Jeddah, pilgrims departing from these three boarding can go straight to the bus to escort to the hotel,” said Menag.
- QR Code on Congregation Armband  QR code contains a list of community identity data that can be accessed through smart haji applications. This will facilitate Hajj officers to identify and assist with worshipers who need help
- A full-time rental system in Medina
During this time, such a leasing system was applied only in Makkah. In Medina, housing rent has been made blocking time . From this year, 52.02 percent of pilgrims will be housed in 32 hotels that are employees for an entire season.

Kemenag asked all catering companies to use Indonesian spices from Indonesia. In addition to maintaining the typical flavor of Indonesian culinary, this will also increase Indonesia’s exports abroad. - Service catering for Indonesian pilgrims under Makkah plus

This innovation for to facilitate the identification of passports and to avoid luggage in congregation luggage. In addition, the service of the year is also provided with the transport service, so that pilgrims no longer need to carry their suitcase up to the door of the room.
- Portion shift for pilgrims to the heirs
This year the Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a new regulation that pilgrims can be replaced by heirs. On the condition, however, pilgrims after being designated as pilgrims entitled to pay during the current year. For this year, they are pilgrims who died after March 16, 2018.
In the past, however, that part of the congregation could not be replaced so that the money was withdrawn by the heirs. If it will be used to register, the heirs count in the new queue.

This innovation is very important for speeding up the process of preparing the document for the departure of pilgrims. In the past, Kemenag was waiting for a visa from the Saudi embassy, so it was not uncommon for the process to be longer.
- Placement of a Consultant in Each Sector
During this time, religious consultants are only available at Makkah’s Daker Office (Work Area). This consultant is expected to synergize with the Indonesian Hajj Advisory Team (TPIHI) in every dot.
- Kemenag was formed first aid team at Jemaah Haji (P3JH)
This team consists of public officials who have medical ability. Completed by managers from Haj Hospital, Medical Department of UIN Jakarta and TNI / Polri Hospital.
This team is prepared to support health care services on top of Hajj, especially on lonely Jumrah’s first day. Learning from previous years, many pilgrims in need of medical help in the area of Jamarat to Mina.
“These ten innovations are the government’s efforts to continually improve the service, hopefully they can worship silently, get glory and return to the country with good health,” says Menag.
Menag Lukman went to Arab Arabia on Thursday (7/6). On arrival at Jeddah, he immediately arranged a meeting with the General Director of Hajj and Umrah Implementation, the Service Exhibition Group, and the Consulate General in Jeddah and the Hajj Office’s Office (KUH). The meeting discussed the readiness for the Haj service this year.
The next day, Friday (8/6), Menag went to Medina to see first hand, from catering, hotel, to healthcare services. On Sunday (10/6) Menag saw the service in Makkah City. In addition to hotel check pilgrims, Menag also performs simulation services and sholawat buses that take pilgrims from the hotel to Masjid al-Haram and vice versa.
