Officials of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency have commenced a state wide tour to enlighten intending pilgrims on new Hajj registration policy and preparation for 2018 hajj exercise,
Director General of the Agency Alhaji Shehu Muhammad Dange who leads the delegation visited Gada, Illela and Gwadabawa Local Government areas.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Agency’s Media Assistant Umar Faruku
Speaking during the visit the Director General explained that the visit was to seek for the support of stakeholders at the Local Government level on the need to enlighten intending pilgrims to pay their hajj deposits in good time.
According to the Director General, “ Sokoto State under Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal had recorded successes during the last hajj exercise adding that in order to consolidate on the successes; all hand must be on desk to ensure timely deposit of hajj fares by intending pilgrims in order to achieve the desired objective”.
The Chairmen of the three Local Government areas visited lends their support towards enlightening their subjects on the forthcoming new hajj registration policy.
The Council Chairmen employed Imams, District and Ward Heads to embark on intensive awareness in their respective areas in order to meet the dateline of 30th March 2018.”
They commended the foresight of the Agency for embarking on the visit and reiterated their cooperation whenever the need arises
