The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has been adjudged the overall best States pilgrims board during 2017 hajj operations.
Independent Hajj Reporters, a civil society organisations that monitors and reports about hajj activities presented the certificate of Recognition to the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs and Amir-ul-Hajj, Dr
AbdulHakeemAbdulLateef, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr MuftauOkoya in company of the Board Chairman, Dr.Tajudeen Yusuf at the public presentation of official news Website and Award ceremony held recently at the Stone Hedge Hotel, Central Business District Abuja.
Dr.AbdulLateef who expressed joy and satisfaction, promised to sustain the standard and put necessary structure and resources in place to ensure hitch free Hajj exercise in 2018.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner commended Independent Hajj Reporters for its effort in recognizing excellence and handwork during 2017 Hajj operations.
“This accolade is not because you adjudged Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board as the best in 2017 Hajj exercise but as a result of fair judgement and recognition of rewarding excellent performance”.
He urged the publisher of Independent Hajj Reporters to continue its accurate and timely reportage on Hajj operations, while advising that development journalism and professionalism should come to play in the coverage and reporting of Islamic activities.
